About Vodafone

Vodafone is a global player when it comes to mobile telecommunications and, here in Australia, it currently offers mobile broadband access to consumers through its 3G (HSDPA) and GPRS network. It's estimated that around 3 million of us are already signed up to this giant and it's easy to see the appeal because Vodafone has an operation that extends much farther than the geographical boundaries of Australia. In fact, Vodafone has a presence in most other countries around the globe, making them a good choice for consumers who like to stay in touch no matter where they're located. If you're looking for a mobile broadband package then you'll find that Vodafone covers many of the major capital cities in Australia although this reach now also extends to the majority of the population thanks to an ever expanding mobile network across the country.

Thanks to surging demand and huge levels of competition from other mobile providers, the Vodafone network continues to be improved so expect speeds of 1.5Mb on average. Their 3G broadband HSDPA network proves most efficient, while their less speedy GPRS service offers more universal coverage than the 3G option, which is often limited to larger conurbations and airports. It currently covers cities including Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide and Perth along with Brisbane and the Gold Coast although this is often in 'inner metro' areas. There are a host of Vodafone packages available and these are all quickly and easily configured. While you won't be charged anything for the setting up process you will find limitations on the amount of data you can download, with 10 cents per MB over the cap currently being charged. Lookout for bundle style deals that offer free modems or 'dongles' as well as a laptop for nothing on selected packages. Prices currently kick off at less than $20 for a pre-paid wireless plan with no contract and a 0.5GB download allowance. At the other end of the spectrum heavy users can opt for the $49.95 per month 7GB mobile wireless broadband package with a 24-month contract term and 7GB download quota.

Rip-off. Their network stopped working, but they won't refund my $150 data voucher!
After purchasing a 12GB voucher, their network stopped working. They refunded my USB modem, but would not refund any of my voucher.

The service worked fine for the first 2 weeks or so. So I purchased a $150 12 GB voucher. A week later, the service was intermittent: 10 minutes up, 10 minutes down. I called technical support. They said it was a problem in their network and I should wait 1 day. The next day, nothing changed. So I called again. This time, the support technician said the problems are due to the fact that I was in a congested area. I said if that's how the 3G service is going to be, it is not acceptable. She told me I could get a refund on the modem but not on the $150 I paid for the data plan. I asked to speak to the manager and was connected with her supervisor Mohammed. At first, Mohammed tried to fix my problem technically. He suggested I use the USB extension cable, because that should improve reception. And if that doesn't work, he assured me I could get a refund on both the modem and the voucher if I took my reciepts back to the store where I purchased them. So I tried using the USB extension cable for a day and connectivity was no better. The next day, I brought all my receipts and modem back to the store. After explaining to the clerk, he told me, he thinks they could not refund my voucher. I told him the manager Mohammed had already approved this. He said he would look up my records at customer support. We waited around 30 minutes for the customer support on the phone. Then I explained to his store manager. Then when we finally spoke to a customer support manager on the phone (his name was Rami) I explained to him all over again.

Manager Rami said company policy prevents him from giving refunds on vouchers. All he could do was give me a credit toward my Vodaphone mobile phone account. But I don't even use a mobile phone, so it was useless. I told him it is wrong to sell a service that doesn't work and then keep peoples money. He insisted that's all he could do. He said if I wasn't satisfied, I could take it up with some telecommunications industry watch dog in Australia. Instead, I will take this up with my credit card bank and try to chargeback my money for having no service received.

    Well!
    Were do I start?
Got the same package as above and though it works fantastic in a lot of places beaware thats not the case in some places. I've been on the phone every second day to Vodafone. When I sighned up for the package i was told that my suburb (Logan area Queensland ) was covered. Not the case. I've had it for amonth now and Im losing patience, Im only glad that when I purchsed my first computer a month aga that I also purchased a 3 mobile dongle(USB) which has served me well, even when the software on my Vodaphone became currupt, I had to retrieve the software from Voda using my 3 USB stick. Let me say though when it works it works well.
Another thing dont expect to get 24 hour service ethier there open for 12 hours a day, so if you encounter problems email me tony-troughton1234@hotmail.com and I should be able to help you out seeing I've gone through so much bulls**t with this company.
    Cheers

I got the vodafone dongle about 6 months ago, and most of the time it works really well. I have the $39.95 deal with 6GB of downloads and it's a neat little package.
